Learn techniques to extend the High Desert Gardening Season and harvest year round. Topics include: various styles and methods of using cold frames, tunnels, frost and shade covers, wallo-waters and greenhouses. Also discussed: choosing specific seed varieties, succession planting and raising sprouts.

You will explore the beauty and magic of seeds. A course in the series of organic gardening covering bio-diversity, heirloom, open pollinated, and sources to obtain these types of seeds.
Techniques for raising your own seed, including pollination, flower structure, maintaining purity, seed cleaning and storage will be covered.

7. AGR 099X Bugs in MY Yard?

Are Bugs in the Landscape Bad? –Not so Much! This one-day workshop will
cover basic entomology and what the real pests are in your garden. General
control practices will be discussed. Plant pathology and disease prevention will
also be covered. A scavenger hunt to identify common issues in the landscape
will be included along with other hands on activities.

8. AGR 099X Hands on Gardening

Get down and dirty with this session. Apply knowledge gleaned from former sessions to create your own container gardens, lasagna gardens, landscape designs, etc. Mix soil mediums, start compost piles, etc. Really get a feel for how to enhance what you’ve already begun in your own backyard.
